Designer, Imam Carpet Co.
Ahsan Imam designs rugs for Imam Carpet Co., made by hand at our atelier in Pakistan. He is the son of our founder, Imam Uddin Ansari, and has worked with architects and interior designers on homes, offices and hotels in Pakistan.
In his own words, his rugs “combine innovative textures and weaves with sophisticated patterns.” See them below, in our showroom on Abdullah Haroon Road in Karachi, or on a video call.
“I’m continually inspired by my extensive world travels and profound love of nature.”
Ahsan Imam
Since 1952
Ahsan’s family comes from Bhadohi, near Mirzapur in India, a town known for its handmade carpets. After the family moved to Pakistan, his father, Imam Uddin Ansari, founded Imam Carpet Co. in 1952 and bought directly from weavers at fair wages.
Ahsan and his brother, Qaisar Imam, carried the business forward. Today Imam Carpet Co. is one of two Label STEP certified carpet companies in Pakistan, and the only one that sells to you directly.
Floorings, interiors, concepts
Ahsan also supplies broadloom carpet and carpet tiles for large projects, working with architects and interior designers. Imam Carpet Co. is the official partner of Haima Carpets, a Chinese carpet maker founded in 1958, and has sourced flooring from Egypt, Turkey, China, Germany, Malaysia, the UAE, Belgium and South Africa.
