The Story Behind Solara

Solara is a small wall of cream bricks, each block carved out of the pile and set in offset rows inside a thin charcoal line. The cream is undyed wool, knotted by hand and cut to two heights, so the bricks can be felt underfoot.

How it was made

Construction: Hand Knotted
Every knot tied by hand on a loom, then cut to make the pile.
Knot: Ghiordes knot
The symmetrical knot, also called the Turkish knot. The yarn wraps two warp threads, which gives a firm pile.
Density: 81–100 knots per square inch
Knots in every square inch. The higher the count, the finer the detail and the longer the rug takes to knot.
Pile: High-low pile, Plush
